Specificity and Use
Synthetic 15 amino acid peptide sequence mapping in the mid-region of mouse telomerase.
Recognizes mouse FM3A Telomerase at 125kD. Also reacts with human immortal cell line 293. Species sequence Homology: Human and rat, 100%. No significant homology with yeast telomerase.
Suitable for use in ELISA and Western Blot. Western Blot: 1-10 ug/ml using ECL. Mouse telomerase detected in testes, thymus and spleen. ELISA: 0.5-1 ug/ml. Coat ELISA plates with 1 ug/ml control peptide.

Telomerase is a ribonucleoprotein enzyme essential for the replication of chromosome termini in most eukaryotes. Active in progenitor and cancer cells. Inactive, or very low activity, in normal somatic cells. Catalytic component of the teleromerase holoenzyme complex whose main activity is the elongation of telomeres by acting as a reverse transcriptase that adds simple sequence repeats to chromosome ends by copying a template sequence within the RNA component of the enzyme.
