Services
  • Immunohistochemistry Services

  • Work with LifeSpan to design a custom immunohistochemistry to address your specific biological question. Outsource the entire localization process without having to worry about finding and characterizing target specific antibodies, sourcing and validating difficult-to-find tissues, and having the ability to interpret the resulting immunostaining in relation to complex human pathologies.

  • TCR Screening Services

  • Test your therapeutic antibodies in immunohistochemistry against a broad panel of normal frozen human tissue types in order to determine potential unintended binding. Our non-GLP TCR services are designed on the FDA recommendation outlined in their "Points to Consider in the Manufacture and Testing of Monoclonal Antibody Products for Human Use".

Specificity and Use

Human secretory component (free)
Human Secretory Component. Tested in immunoelectrophoresis, double radial immunodiffusion and ELISA against a panel of appropriate secretions and purified Ig isotypes. The antiserum reacts with the free SC present in human secretions. In immunoelectrophoresis against human milk, using a high electroendosmosis agar plate, free SC is precipitated in the alpha-2 region. The antiserum does not react with sIgA, or with any other secretory or plasma protein. Cross-reactivity Inter-species cross-reactivity is a normal feature of antibodies to serum proteins, since homo- logous proteins of different species frequently share antigenic determinants. Cross-reactivity of this antiserum has not been tested in detail. It cross-reacts with free secretory component in secretions of chimpanzee and other non-human primates including Rhesus monkeys.
This product is intended for use in precipitating techniques as immunoelectrophoresis and single and double radial immunodiffusion to identify the presence of free secretory component in human serum or other body fluids and to determine its concentration.

About Secretory Component

Secretory Component is a component of immunoglobulin A (IgA) which consists of a portion of the polymeric immunoglobulin receptor. Polymeric IgA binds to the polymeric immunoglobulin receptor on the basolateral surface of epithelial cells and is taken up into the cell via transcytosis. The receptor-IgA complex passes through the cellular compartments before being secreted on the luminal surface of the epithelial cells, still attached to the receptor.
