PRMT1 antibody was raised against kLH-conjugated, synthetic peptide corresponding to aa298-318 (KTGEEIFGTIGMRPNAKNNRD) of human protein arginine methyltransferase 1 (accession number CAA71765). The immunizing sequence is identical in mouse. Percent identity by BLAST analysis: Human, Gorilla, Orangutan, Mouse, Rat, Hamster, Elephant, Panda, Porcine, Dog, Bovine, Horse, Rabbit, Opossum (100%); Xenopus (95%); Monkey (90%); Zebrafish, Stickleback, Pufferfish (86%); Salmon (81%).
Recognize the PRMT1 doublet, Mr ~42-44kD. A non-specific protein was also detected, Mr ~120kD. Species cross-reactivity: Human and mouse.
Suitable for use in Western Blot. Western Blot Analysis: 0.1-0.5 ug/ml of this lot detected PRMT1 in RIPA lysates from Jurkat and 3T3/A31, NIH 3T3, HeLa, and mouse ES cells.

Arginine methyltransferase that methylates (mono and asymmetric dimethylation) the guanidino nitrogens of arginyl residues present in proteins such as ESR1, histone H2, H3 and H4, PIAS1, HNRNPA1, HNRNPD, NFATC2IP, SUPT5H, TAF15 and EWS. Constitutes the main enzyme that mediates monomethylation and asymmetric dimethylation of histone H4 'Arg-4' (H4R3me1 and H4R3me2a, respectively), a specific tag for epigenetic transcriptional activation.
