About NEFH / NF-H
Neurofilaments are type IV intermediate filament heteropolymers composed of light, medium, and heavy chains. Neurofilaments comprise the axoskeleton and functionally maintain neuronal caliber. They may also play a role in intracellular transport to axons and dendrites. This gene encodes the heavy neurofilament protein. This protein is commonly used as a biomarker of neuronal damage and susceptibility to amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) has been associated with mutations in this gene. Immunogen
NEFH / NF-H antibody was raised against to raise this antibody bovine intermediate filaments were prepared from spinal cords by the glycerol polymerization method of Delacourte et al., and the cytoskeletal material was dissolved in 6M urea. Individual neurofilament subunits were purified by ion exchange chromatography on DEAE-cellulose and the NF-H containing fractions were concentrated and further purified by preparative gel electrophoresis on a Biorad Prepcell.

Usage
The IgY solution has an extremely high titre and can be used at dilutions of at least 1:100000 in immunofluorescence experiments. In western blotting using chemiluminescence it can be used at dilutions of 1:1000000 or lower. The antibody has also been used successfully in the capture role in ELISA.
