MUC5AC antibody was raised against mucin isolated from an ovarian cyst fluid (pure endocervical type according to the Fenoglio's classification).
1-13M1 reacts with peptide core of gastric mucin (MUC5AC).
Immunohistochemistry on cultured cells. Immunochemistry on frozen ethanol fixed section. Immunochemistry on paraffin section: a protease pretreatment is recommended. monoclonal antibody cross-reacts with mucin of different animal species after period date pretreatment. Western Blot: strongly positive without mercaptoethanol pretreatment of mucin solution. ELISA or IRMA in combination with the 9-13M1 monoclonal antibody or the mixture of anti-M1 MoAbs. |
PBS, 0.05% sodium azide
Short term 4°C, long term aliquot and store at -20°C, avoid freeze thaw cycles.

MUC5AC has been isolated from airway secretions. It is found in the protective film of mucus coating the mucosal surfaces of the respiratory tract and the normal gastrointestinal tissues. Mucins are also expressed at low levels in human fetal gut. MUC5AC is involved in epithelial cell proliferation and differentiation in adult airway mucosa and can be used as a marker for hypersecretory disorders. MUC5AC has also been observed in various tumors.
