Peptide ELISA: antibody detection limit dilution 1:32000. Western blot: Preliminary experiments gave approx .48kDa and 37kDa bands in Human Brain (Cerebellum) lysates after 1 ug/ml antibody staining. Please note that currently we cannot find an explanation in the literature for the band we observe given the calculated size of 40.2kDa according to NP_005950.1. The 48kDa and 37kDa bands were successfully blocked by incubation with the immunizing peptide. |

MTNR1B / MT2 is one of two high affinity forms of a receptor for melatonin, the primary hormone secreted by the pineal gland. This gene product is an integral membrane protein that is a G-protein coupled, 7-transmembrane receptor. It is found primarily in the retina and brain although this detection requires RT-PCR. It is thought to participate in light-dependent functions in the retina and may be involved in the neurobiological effects of melatonin.
