Specificity and Use
MRE11A / MRE11 antibody was raised against gST fusion protein corresponding to aa 182-582 of Mre11 expressed in E. coli.
Recognizes human Mre11, an 80 kD protein that acts as a Mn+2- dependent double stranded DNA 3' to 5' exonuclease and a single stranded DNA endonuclease. It is part of a larger complex with Rad50, p95 (Nibrin), and possibly other proteins involved in the nucleolytic end-processing of double strand breaks and telomere maintenance.
Component of the MRN complex, which plays a central role in double-strand break (DSB) repair, DNA recombination, maintenance of telomere integrity and meiosis. The complex possesses single-strand endonuclease activity and double-strand-specific 3'-5' exonuclease activity, which are provided by MRE11A. RAD50 may be required to bind DNA ends and hold them in close proximity.
