Specificity and Use
MMP8 antibody was raised against neutrophil.
Recognizes precursor and active forms of human MMP-8. Does not cross-react with human MMP-1, 2, 3, 7, 9 and 13.
Immunohistochemistry: 10ug/ml on PLP fixed, paraffin-embedded tissue sections. Heat induced epitope retrieval in citrate buffer, pH 6.0 is recommended. Also reacts with acetone or fresh frozen sections. Formalin fixation is not recommended.

MMP8 is a member of the matrix metalloproteinase (MMP) family of proteins. These proteins are involved in the breakdown of extracellular matrix in embryonic development, reproduction, and tissue remodeling, as well as in disease processes, such as arthritis and metastasis. Proteolysis at different sites on this protein results in multiple active forms of the enzyme with distinct N-termini. This protein functions in the degradation of type I, II and III collagens.
