Specificity and Use
MMP2 antibody was raised against human native Gelatinase A, 72kD.
Recognizes proteins of 72kD and 66kD which are identified as pro (latent) and active forms of matrix metalloproteinase-2 (MMP-2; also known as 72kD collagenase IV or gelatinase A). Shows no cross-reactivity with pro and active forms of other MMPs. Recognizes human.
Western blot: 1-2 ug/ml for 2 hours at RT. Immunofluorescence. Immunoprecipitation on native protein: 2 ug/mg of protein lysate. Not suitable for immunohistochemistry. Positive control: Conditioned, serum-free medium from (TPA-treated) HFL-1 cells.

Ubiquitinous metalloproteinase that is involved in diverse functions such as remodeling of the vasculature, angiogenesis, tissue repair, tumor invasion, inflammation, and atherosclerotic plaque rupture. As well as degrading extracellular matrix proteins, can also act on several nonmatrix proteins such as big endothelial 1 and beta-type CGRP promoting vasoconstriction. Also cleaves KISS at a Gly-|-Leu bond. Appears to have a role in myocardial cell death pathways.
