Recognizes proteins of 72kD and ~66kD which are identified as pro (latent) and active forms of matrix metalloproteinase-2 (MMP-2; also known as 72kD collagenase IV or gelatinase A). No cross-reaction with pro and active forms of other MMPs.
Immunohistochemistry (Frozen & fixed-paraffin embedded) 2-4 ug/ml g/ml 30 min at RT. Ubiquitinous metalloproteinase that is involved in diverse functions such as remodeling of the vasculature, angiogenesis, tissue repair, tumor invasion, inflammation, and atherosclerotic plaque rupture. As well as degrading extracellular matrix proteins, can also act on several nonmatrix proteins such as big endothelial 1 and beta-type CGRP promoting vasoconstriction. Also cleaves KISS at a Gly-|-Leu bond. Appears to have a role in myocardial cell death pathways.
