Specificity
Reacts with basic cytokeratin 5 (Mr 58000), expressed in the basal cells of the larynx, esophagus, trachea, bladder, prostate, cervix, vagina, breast acini, skin and sweat glands. In several studies the correlation between the expression of keratin 5 in different types of carcinomas (putatively derived from basal epithelial cells) and prognosis has been discussed.

Usage
Suitable for use in Immunohistochemistry and Western Blot. Immunohistochemistry (Frozen): 1:100, Incubation time 1hr at RT. Immunohistochemistry (paraffin-embedded): 1:50, Incubation time >1hr at RT. Western Blot: 1:5000-1:10000 using ECL.
