Specificity and Use
KMT2A / MLL antibody was raised against a synthetic peptide which maps to a region between residues 2725 and 2775 of human myeloid/lymphoid or mixed-lineage leukemia 1 using the number given in Swiss-Prot entry Q03164 (GeneID 4297). The epitope is found in the C-terminal 180 kD fragment generated by proteolytic cleavage. The epitope is found in isoform 14P-18B of MLL1.
Specific for human MLL-1 protein. Other species not tested.

Histone methyltransferase that plays an essential role in early development and hematopoiesis. Catalytic subunit of the MLL1/MLL complex, a multiprotein complex that mediates both methylation of 'Lys-4' of histone H3 (H3K4me) complex and acetylation of 'Lys-16' of histone H4 (H4K16ac). In the MLL1/MLL complex, it specifically mediates H3K4me, a specific tag for epigenetic transcriptional activation.
