Description
GPR101 is a G protein-coupled receptor putatively involved in growth regulation. Duplications of this gene and coinciding overexpression of GPR101 results in acromegaly and gigantism. This may be caused by downstream upregulation of hypothalamic GHRH and dysfunction of the growth hormone axis in the pituitary and hypothalamus resulting from baseline increased GPR101. In immunohistochemistry, GPR101 has membranous positivity in the hypothalamus, basal ganglia, and cerebral cortex in the central nervous system.

Usage
Immunohistochemistry: The unconjugated form was validated for use in immunohistochemistry on a panel of 21 formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded (FFPE) human tissues after heat induced antigen retrieval in pH 6.0 citrate buffer. After incubation with the primary antibody, slides were incubated with biotinylated secondary antibody, followed by alkaline phosphatase-streptavidin and chromogen. The stained slides were evaluated by a pathologist to confirm staining specificity. The optimal working concentration for the unconjugated form was determined to be 7.3 ug/ml.
