Services
  • Immunohistochemistry Services

  • Work with LifeSpan to design a custom immunohistochemistry to address your specific biological question. Outsource the entire localization process without having to worry about finding and characterizing target specific antibodies, sourcing and validating difficult-to-find tissues, and having the ability to interpret the resulting immunostaining in relation to complex human pathologies.

  • TCR Screening Services

  • Test your therapeutic antibodies in immunohistochemistry against a broad panel of normal frozen human tissue types in order to determine potential unintended binding. Our non-GLP TCR services are designed on the FDA recommendation outlined in their "Points to Consider in the Manufacture and Testing of Monoclonal Antibody Products for Human Use".

Rat GJB2 / CX26 / Connexin 26
Rabbit
Rat (tested or 100% immunogen sequence identity)
IgG Polyclonal
Immunoaffinity purified

Applications

IHC - Frozen, Immunofluorescence, Western blot, ELISA

Specificity and Use

GJB2 / CX26 / Connexin 26 antibody was raised against peptide corresponding to a portion of the cytoplasmic loop of rat connexin 26.
Cytoplasmic Domain
Reacts predominantly with Connexin 26. By immunoblot analysis, a 26kD protein from mouse liver membrane, mouse brain extract and rat brain extract was detected (note: samples were not boiled prior to running SDS-PAGE). A few cross-reactive bands were detected in the 45-50kD range. The identity of these proteins has yet to be confirmed; however, it is possible these bands represent dimeric forms of the Connexin 26 protein. Immunohistochemical staining of frozen sections of human cochlea showed positive reactivity for Connexin 26.
Suitable for use in Immunofluorescence, ELISA, Western Blot, Immunohistochemistry. ELISA: 0.1-1.0 mg/ml. Western Blot: 0.5 mg/ml. Immunohistochemistry (frozen): 10 mg/ml. Immunofluorescence.

Packaging

PBS, pH 7.2, 0.1% sodium azide.
Long term: Add glycerol (40-50%) -20°C; Short term: +4°C

GJB2 / CX26 / Connexin 26 is a member of the gap junction protein family. The gap junctions were first characterized by electron microscopy as regionally specialized structures on plasma membranes of contacting adherent cells. These structures were shown to consist of cell-to-cell channels that facilitate the transfer of ions and small molecules between cells. The gap junction proteins, also known as connexins, purified from fractions of enriched gap junctions from different tissues differ.
