Recognizes the pancreatic polypeptide hormone glucagon, whose actions are antagonistic to insulin. Glucagon is produced by A cells within the Islets of Langerhans in the pancreas. Tumors arising from glucagon producing cells are termed glucagonomas, and this may be useful in identifying such tumors.
