Services
  • Immunohistochemistry Services

  • Work with LifeSpan to design a custom immunohistochemistry to address your specific biological question. Outsource the entire localization process without having to worry about finding and characterizing target specific antibodies, sourcing and validating difficult-to-find tissues, and having the ability to interpret the resulting immunostaining in relation to complex human pathologies.

  • TCR Screening Services

  • Test your therapeutic antibodies in immunohistochemistry against a broad panel of normal frozen human tissue types in order to determine potential unintended binding. Our non-GLP TCR services are designed on the FDA recommendation outlined in their "Points to Consider in the Manufacture and Testing of Monoclonal Antibody Products for Human Use".

Specificity and Use

GAP43 antibody was raised against embryonic chick tectal membranes.
Recognizes a protein originally termed 2G13P which is localized to growth cones. Subsequent investigation has identified this protein to be 40S ribosomal protein SA, also known as 37 kD laminin receptor precursor or Laminin receptor 1. 40S ribosomal protein SA is a 296 amino acid ~37kD membrane, cytoplasmic and nuclear protein required for the assembly and/or stability of the 40S ribosomal subunit. In vertebrate evolution the molecule has acquired a secondary function as a laminin receptor. In growth cones expression is notable particularly in filopodia and lamellipodia in developing rat CNS and embryonic neurons in culture. 40S ribosomal protein SA interacts with the filamentous actin cytoskeleton and therefore may be involved in growth cone motility. Has been used for the detection of growth cones by immunohistochemistry and identification of 40S ribosomal protein SA by western blotting in chicken and rat samples.
Immunohistology: This product does not require protein digestion pre-treatment of paraffin sections. This product does not require antigen retrieval using heat treatment prior to staining of paraffin sections.

About GAP43

P17677 NM_002045 NP_002036.1

GAP43 Antibody, Axonal membrane protein GAP-43 Antibody, B-50 Antibody, Growth associated protein 43 Antibody, Growth-associated protein 43 Antibody, Neural phosphoprotein B-50 Antibody, Neuromodulin Antibody, PP46 Antibody, GAP-43 Antibody, Protein F1 Antibody

This protein is associated with nerve growth. It is a major component of the motile "growth cones" that form the tips of elongating axons. Plays a role in axonal and dendritic filopodia induction.
