GAP43

growth associated protein 43

This protein is associated with nerve growth. It is a major component of the motile "growth cones" that form the tips of elongating axons. Plays a role in axonal and dendritic filopodia induction.

Gene Name: growth associated protein 43
Family/Subfamily: Neuromodulin , Not assigned-Other
Synonyms: GAP43, Axonal membrane protein GAP-43, B-50, Growth associated protein 43, Growth-associated protein 43, Neural phosphoprotein B-50, Neuromodulin, PP46, GAP-43, Protein F1
Target Sequences: NM_002045 NP_002036.1 P17677

GAP43 Antibody - Immunohistochemical analysis of GAP43 staining in human brain formalin fixed paraffin embedded tissue section. The section was pre-treated using heat mediated antigen retrieval with sodium citrate buffer (pH 6.0). The section was then incubated with the antibody at room temperature and detected using an HRP conjugated compact polymer system. DAB was used as the chromogen. The section was then counterstained with hematoxylin and mounted with DPX.
