FDPS is an enzyme that catalyzes the production of geranyl pyrophosphate and farnesyl pyrophosphate from isopentenyl pyrophosphate and dimethylallyl pyrophosphate. The resulting product, farnesyl pyrophosphate, is a key intermediate in cholesterol and sterol biosynthesis, a substrate for protein farnesylation and geranylgeranylation, and a ligand or agonist for certain hormone receptors and growth receptors.
Formalin-fixed and paraffin-embedded human hepatocarcinoma tissue reacted with FDPS antibody (Center ), which was peroxidase-conjugated to the secondary antibody, followed by DAB staining. This data demonstrates the use of this antibody for immunohistochemistry; clinical relevance has not been evaluated.
The anti-FDPS antibody is used in Western blot to detect FDPS in human cytokeratin liver cell lysate. Data is kindly provided by Dr. Masaru Harada from Stanford University (Palo Alto, CA).
