(tested or 100% immunogen sequence identity)
Immunogen
Human heart FABP (H-FABP).
Specificity
Detects human H-FABP, also known as heart type fatty-acid binding protein, and FABP3. H-FABP belongs to the FABP family, and is a 14kD cytosolic non-enzymatic protein involved in the uptake, transport and metabolism of fatty acids. H-FABP also has a role in cell proliferation and is a candidate tumor suppressor gene in breast cancer. H-FABP was initially purified from the heart muscle, but has since been found to have a widespread tissue distribution, with highest concentration in cardiac and skeletal muscle. H-FABP has been implicated in neurodegenerative disorders, including Down syndrome and Alzheimer's disease, and is a specific and sensitive biomarker for acute myocardial infarctions. May be used in a sandwich ELISA assay in combination with MCA2714 (both antibodies can be used for capture or detection). It may also be used as capture antibody in combination with MCA2640 as detection antibody.
