EMA / MUC1 antibody was raised against highly purified fusion protein, human b-gal-episialin/ MUC1 repeat domain.
Recognizes MUC1/episialin. Species cross-reactivity: Human. Not cross-reactive in mouse, rat, bovine, porcine and rabbit.
Suitable for use in Flow Cytometry, Immunohistochemistry. Immunohistochemistry: 10 ug/ml Detects MUC1/episialin in paraffin embedded human adenocarcinoma tissue sections. Flow Cytometry: This antibody has been used in FACS analysis with MCF-7 human breast cancer cells.

EMA / MUC1 is a membrane-bound protein that is a member of the mucin family. Mucins are O-glycosylated proteins that play an essential role in forming protective mucous barriers on epithelial surfaces. These proteins also play a role in intracellular signaling. This protein is expressed on the apical surface of epithelial cells that line the mucosal surfaces of many different tissues including lung, breast stomach and pancreas.
