Description
Cytokeratin AE1 / AE3 is a keratin cocktail that detects KRT1-8, 10, 14-16 and 19. It does not detect CK17 or CK18, and for this reason some pan-keratin cocktails also contain CAM5.2 (which detects CK18). AE1 / AE3 is used by pathologists to confirm or rule out the epithelial nature of tissue, tumors or components of tumors. Furthermore, it is used in immunohistochemistry to identify metastatic carcinoma in bone marrow and lymph nodes.
