Specificity and Use
CLU / Clusterin antibody was raised against synthetic peptide located between aa305-354 of human CLU (P10909, NP_001822). Percent identity by BLAST analysis: Human, Horse (100%); Rabbit (90%); Gorilla, Gibbon, Mouse, Rat, Guinea pig (85%).

Short term, +4°C. Long term, add glycerol to 40-50%, aliquot to avoid freeze/thaw cycles, and store at -20°C. Sensitive to light.
Isoform 1 functions as extracellular chaperone that prevents aggregation of nonnative proteins. Prevents stress-induced aggregation of blood plasma proteins. Inhibits formation of amyloid fibrils by APP, APOC2, B2M, CALCA, CSN3, SNCA and aggregation-prone LYZ variants (in vitro). Does not require ATP. Maintains partially unfolded proteins in a state appropriate for subsequent refolding by other chaperones, such as HSPA8/HSC70. Does not refold proteins by itself.
