Specificity and Use
CD84 / SLAMF5 antibody was raised against mLR stimulated lymphocytes. Splenocytes were fused with mouse myeloma NS1 cells.
Reacts with human CD84 (Mw 74 kD). CD84 is expressed on mature B cells and on B cell lines but not on plasma cell lines. Immunohistochemical studies demonstrated that it strongly stains tissue macrophages. It is also expressed on platelets and at low levels on blood T cells. Cellular expression does not significantly increase after activation 152-1D5 was clustered at the V WLDA.
Plays a role as adhesion receptor functioning by homophilic interactions and by clustering. Recruits SH2 domain-containing proteins SH2D1A/SAP. Increases proliferative responses of activated T-cells and SH2D1A/SAP does not seen be required for this process. Homophilic interactions enhance interferon gamma/IFNG secretion in lymphocytes and induce platelet stimulation via a SH2D1A/SAP-dependent pathway. May serve as a marker for hematopoietic progenitor cells.
