CD57 / HNK1 antibody was raised against human peripheral blood cells.
Recognizes a 110-115kD carbohydrate antigen called HNK-1. HNK-1 is not a specific marker for NK cells, being shared by calls belonging to different lineages.
Suitable for use in Flow Cytometry. Flow Cytometry: 20 ul will label 100 ul peripheral blood cells or 1E6 cells. The applications listed have been tested for the unconjugated form of this product. Other forms have not been tested.
Involved in the biosynthesis of L2/HNK-1 carbohydrate epitope on glycoproteins. Can also play a role in glycosaminoglycan biosynthesis. Substrates include asialo-orosomucoid (ASOR), asialo-fetuin, and asialo-neural cell adhesion molecule. Requires sphingomyelin for activity: stearoyl-sphingomyelin was the most effective, followed by palmitoyl-sphingomyelin and lignoceroyl-sphingomyelin.
