CD57 / HNK1 antibody was raised against human neuroblastoma cells.
Recognizes human CD57.
Suitable for use in Flow Cytometry and Immunohistochemistry (frozen and paraffin). Flow Cytometry: 1:50-1:100; 10 ul labels 10^6 cells in 100ul. Immunohistochemistry (frozen): 1:10-1:100. Immunohistochemistry (paraffin): 1:10-1:50.

Involved in the biosynthesis of L2/HNK-1 carbohydrate epitope on glycoproteins. Can also play a role in glycosaminoglycan biosynthesis. Substrates include asialo-orosomucoid (ASOR), asialo-fetuin, and asialo-neural cell adhesion molecule. Requires sphingomyelin for activity: stearoyl-sphingomyelin was the most effective, followed by palmitoyl-sphingomyelin and lignoceroyl-sphingomyelin.
