Specificity and Use
CD44 antibody was raised against mouse CD44
The IM7 antibody has been tested by flow cytometric analysis of mouse bone marrow cells and splenocyte suspensions. This can be used at less than or equal to 0.125 ug per test. A test is defined as the amount (ug) of antibody that will stain a cell sample in a final volume of 100 ul. Cell number should be determined empirically but can range from 10^5 to 10^8 cells/test. It is recommended that the antibody be carefully titrated for optimal performance in the assay of interest.

Receptor for hyaluronic acid (HA). Mediates cell-cell and cell-matrix interactions through its affinity for HA, and possibly also through its affinity for other ligands such as osteopontin, collagens, and matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs). Adhesion with HA plays an important role in cell migration, tumor growth and progression. In cancer cells, may play an important role in invadopodia formation. Also involved in lymphocyte activation, recirculation and homing, and in hematopoiesis.
R2 R3 R4 Differential expression of CD44 on mouse bone marrow cells. BALB/c bone marrow cells were stained with 0.06 ug PE anti-mouse/human CD44 (IM7). Total viable cells were gated further on their light scatter profile. The lymphoid lineage cells (R2) express CD44 at an intermediate level, while the myeloid lineage cells (R3 & R4) display much higher levels of CD44 surface expression. The overlay histogram on each panel (green) is the autofluorescence of cells.
