Specificity and Use
CD1A antibody was raised against bALB/C mice were injected with thymus cells.
Reacts with a 49 kD protein. At least five CD1 genes are identified (CD1a, b, c, d and e) . This antibody reacts with cortical thymocytes, Langerhans cells in epidermis, dendritic cells of dermis and Langerhans cells of mucosa of tonsil. This antibody may be useful in the characterization of leukemias and lymphomas.
CD1A is a member of the CD1 family of transmembrane glycoproteins, which are structurally related to the major histocompatibility complex (MHC) proteins and form heterodimers with beta-2-microglobulin. The CD1 proteins mediate the presentation of primarily lipid and glycolipid antigens of self or microbial origin to T cells. The human genome contains five CD1 family genes organized in a cluster on chromosome 1.
