Specificity and Use
ATP1A1 antibody was raised against sheep kidney Na+/K+ ATPase- 1.
Recognizes the 1 subunit of rat, sheep, pig and dog Na+/K+ ATPase-. Detects a band of ~110kD by Western blot. Does not cross-react with Xenopus and chicken Na+/K+ ATPase- 1 or with rat Na+/K+ ATPase- 2. Recognizes an epitope between aa 496-506 of sheep kidney Na+/K+ ATPase-.

ATP1A1 belongs to the family of P-type cation transport ATPases, and to the subfamily of Na+/K+ -ATPases. Na+/K+ -ATPase is an integral membrane protein responsible for establishing and maintaining the electrochemical gradients of Na and K ions across the plasma membrane. These gradients are essential for osmoregulation, for sodium-coupled transport of a variety of organic and inorganic molecules, and for electrical excitability of nerve and muscle.
