LifeSpan's Tissue Microarrays

LifeSpan offers high-quality formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded (FFPE) and frozen tissue microarrays containing normal and diseased human tissues, as well as tissue from commonly studied non-human species. Tissue microarrays are a cost effective resource for producing protein localization data across many tissue specimens simultaneously.

All LifeSpan TMAs are available for use in LifeSpan's Contract Research Services, and many are also available for purchase as unstained slides. If the array of interest to you is not listed below, contact LifeSpan to find out if it is in development.

FDA Normal Tissue Arrays

The following tissue microarrays are based upon the sets of tissues recommended by the FDA for human and animal toxicological screening at the R&D level. These arrays are not recommended for use in Tissue Cross-Reactivity (TCR) screening for the purposes of IND submission, as TCR screening requires full section tissues rather than small tissue cores such as those found on tissue microarrays.

Human Cancer Tissue Arrays
The following tissue microarrays include multiple cores of human cancer, often with associated stage and grade information. Cancer specific arrays are useful when determining the prevalence of a proteins expression within a population. Depending upon the components of a given array, it may also be valuable in associating a proteins expression within various cancer types, or across various stages of cancer development.

Human Cancer And Normal
The following tissue microarrays include multiple cores of human cancer, often with associated stage and grade information, and their corresponding normal tissue types. The term "matched" is used when describing "adjacent normal" or "adjacent benign" tissue taken from the same patient. In general, these specimens are not considered normal because the adjacent cancer can affect them. True normal, or "corresponding normal" tissues are from patients with no indication of disease.
