Eggs of chickens laid after repeated immunizations with a synthetic peptide corresponding to aa 2-32 of Human MIF conjugated to keyhole limpet hemocyanin (KLH). Peptide sequence: PMFIVNTNVPRASVPDGF- LSELTQQLAQATG. Percent identity by BLAST analysis: Human, Gorilla, Gibbon, Monkey (100%); Mouse, Rat, Pig (94%); Sheep, Panda, Bovine, Horse, Rabbit (89%); Hamster (83%).

Specificity
Recognizes human mature Migration Inhibitory Factor, Macrophage (MIF) at 12.3kD. The MIF gene encodes a protein of 115aa. The initiating methionine is cleaved leaving a mature protein of 114aa.

Usage
Suitable for use in ELISA and Western Blot. Western Blot: 1:500-1:1000. Detects human MIF from supernatants or lysates of 2x1E6 endotoxin-stimulated PBMC stimulated for 24 hours with 1% human serum plus 10 mg/ml E. coli LPS. ELISA: 1:1000-1:2000. Assayed against goat anti-chicken IgG (H&L) in a standard capture ELISA using ABTS as a substrate for 30 min at RT.
